The Escalès footbridge crosses the recently built road bypass in Saint-Sever. The structure is 50m long and acts as a three-dimensional Semi-Vierendeel girder. The upper compression member is made out of 12cm thin prefabricated concrete plates while the lower tension member uses high strength steel S460. The footbridge won the award 2008 for the best steel structure in France in the category "small structures" of the association Construction Métallique.
