Scope of work For RFR - Cinematic study and structural design
A footbridge of 82 m length was required as part of the reanimation program of the quays of the canal Saint Félix canal in Nantes. Since a standard footbridge did not suit the clearance of the canal or would require long and architecturally unpleasant ramps on the waterfront, we proposed a cable stayed footbridge with sufficient clearance for small vessels and an accessible slope even for handicapped people. In case of large vessels, two hydraulic jacks will pull on the main cable stays and, due to a cinematic transfer, the central part of the deck will be lifted by +1.5m. Unfortunately, the city council stopped the planning after the conceptual design because of financial lacks.
