Scope of work Structural design
For the Pin-up Festival 2006, the architects intend to play with the image of the kind of advertisements popping up everywhere in the city and containing almost naked models. Their idea was to print these images onto 80 umbrellas and fix these to a structure and give the festival visitors free access. Thus, a cable net was fixed to a portal frame of 9.00 by 8.00m where the umbrellas act as horizontal spacers between the cables. Access is given by a staircase behind. Pre-stress was imposed by a lower curved cable.
